Opentweet

An open distributed tweeting protocol

This article inspired me to think about the benefits of email, and how much I like tweeting. I thought we could have a true open and interoperable tweeting protocol. Like email, but pull instead of push. The gala poked me into testing this out.

The conceptual center of the project is the protocol, and the go reference implementation. Of course to demonstrate we would need some actual tweets to serve. So a simple server with a database and a rest api to post would be needed.

The chromeapp client shows that you can have any client anywhere and be able to pull tweets from your favorite people, using the standard protocol, from whichever server they post their tweets to.
